Year 8 End of Key Stage 3 Tests (Document)
I enclose a guidance sheet to advise you of forthcoming practice tests in English, Maths and Science.  Please read this through with your child to ensure they are fully prepared.

Year 7 ICT Information Evening (Document)
Further to my letter last term, a new date has now been arranged for this evening.  Please read the enclosed information and return the proforma to Reception by Friday 23 January.

Session 3 Arrangements (Document)
Session 3 activities will commence on Monday 12 January.   I enclose details of the Session 3 Programme for next term which I would ask you to read through with your child.

Mobile Phone Policy
May I take this opportunity to remind parents and students of the School’s policy with regards to the use of mobile phones.  It has recently been updated with amendments in bold:

Mobile phones must be switched off on the school site during normal school hours, including lunch and break times.  Mobile phones must not be used to take photographs or videos anywhere in the school or the area immediately outside the school or on the School Coaches.  Failure to comply will result in the mobile phone being taken off the student and this will then have to be collected by the parent.

Any attempts to post written comments, video or photo images on free websites, eg, You Tube, which leads to bullying or humiliation of students or staff, or discredits the school, will be dealt with most severely and may lead to the student losing their place at the School.

Advisory Council Prize Draws (Document)
As is usual, I am enclosing a list of the winners of the Christmas Raffle Draw and would like to thank you and the students for supporting this event.  Approximately £3,100 was raised and this will go towards supporting activities and learning for the students.  The Advisory Council and the Social Development Committee do a wonderful job in supporting the School.  May I take this opportunity to thank those parents who give so much of their time to help the School.

Burns Night (Document)

On Tuesday 20 January 2009, the Advisory Council and the Hospitality and Catering Students are organising a Burns Night Supper.  The cost of this is £20 and, if you would like to book tickets, please complete and return the tear off slip by Monday 12 January 2009.

Road Safety Group (Document)
Members of the Road Safety Group continue to work to secure improvements for the students’ safety around the school entrance and exit and have provided the enclosed information from the DVLA for your consideration.

School Production
This year, the School Production will be ‘Oklahoma’.  We will be performing on Monday 30 March through to Thursday 2 April and some of the major roles are being shared so that the students will not be too tired.

Bad Weather Arrangements
In the unlikely event that the weather is so severe that we have to close the School there will be an announcement made to this effect on Beacon Radio and Radio Shropshire.  If there is really heavy snow in the new year, could I ask you to listen to the Radio and if no announcement is made then School will be open as usual.
