1) Is this a brand new course?
No. It is a REVISED course based on the existing OCR National Certificate. The number of mandatory units is being changed and a number of ½ units are being introduced. The course is now fully accredited by QCA.
2) How many units will students have to do?
Like GNVQ before it, the National Certificate is based on a notional 6 units, each requiring 60 guided learning hours. Apart from one mandatory unit, teachers will be able to ‘pick and mix’ from a large selection of 60 hr units and 30 hr units to build their own course covering 360 guided learning hours.
3) How much is it worth?
OCR proposes 4 qualifications within the Level 2 suite worth 1, 2, 3 or 4 GCSEs A* to C. Each GCSE-equivalent award will require 90 hours of unit (360 hours in total)
