Once again we enjoyed an extremely successful year in Sport. 32 teams won titles at district, county, regional and national level and our Girls Swimming and Skiing Teams both won the West Midlands titles and came fourth in the country in their respective competitions. Other outstanding team achievements included the performance of our Year 7 and Year 10 Boys Football teams who both reached the National Semi Finals. In fact, the Year 7 5-a-side team went to the National Finals as well where they won the Plate Competition. There was also cause for celebration in the ESFA West Midlands Football competitions when Thomas Telford School became the first school ever to win both the Under 13 Boys and Under 13 Girls Trophies in the same season. As individuals the School was very well represented at district, county and regional level. A number of students continued to compete at the highest levels, showing tremendous skill and commitment in their drive to become the Olympians of the future. Laura Pacey became National Biathlon Champion for the third successive year; Alex Hooper won the Girls 100 metre National Backstroke title; Kelly Edwards won a Bronze Medal in Judo at the Youth Olympics in Belgrade; Abby Clifford won national Titles at both the All England and the English Open Skiing Tournaments and Amelia Reynolds captained the England Girls Basketball team in the European Championships. Alex Nwenwu is one to watch for next year as he came fourth in the National 100 metres hurdles final at the English Schools Championships, despite being a year younger than the other competitors.
