It was fantastic to welcome back one of our former students Phoebe Lill who came to speak to all our Sixth Form students today about her experiences of volunteering in Zimbabwe.
Phoebe left Thomas Telford in 2011 to study for a degree in History and Italian at the University of Birmingham. She then went on to spend 3 months volunteering in a school in Zimbabwe and she talked to students about how the placement really opened her eyes to how people in other parts of the world live.
She encouraged our students to think about the impact they make in their communities and discussed the idea of being a ‘Global Active Citizen’ to improve social justice. It is always fantastic to hear from former students and Phoebe certainly gave an inspiring and thought provoking talk.
